The Barn by Firehouse Antiques
Yes, we bought a barn. Firehouse Antiques is expanding and we could not be more excited! About eight years ago, we went to a local estate sale here in New Harmony, IN and the wheels to grow our business really started turning. The family of our gentleman friend held the sale in this amazing old barn just two blocks from our shop.

Although eight years ago the timing was not right for his family to sell the property, my husband and I let them know that if they ever sold the barn we were interested. Over the years we have walked our small town’s streets and dreamed of our expansion plans, especially as we walked past this barn. As Chip and Jo took off with their plans for their Magnolia Silos, we knew we wanted another space to grow our business, store our stock, and work on furniture. So finally after eight years we are so excited to announce that we now own, The Barn by Firehouse Antiques.
Along with The Barn, came the purchase of an adorable mid century house and a small building that was once our small town’s Barber Shop. The inside of the barn is filled with authentic character, it was built around the turn of the century and has exposed beams and even an attic space. Did I mention sliding barn doors? I think Jeff would have bought this for me just so I could have my very own sliding barn doors.

We are still processing all the possibilities of The Barn, but after a little cleaning up we plan to host some events and let the community into this amazing space. As for the house, we did not plan on it at first, but we think this may be a wonderful home for us. We just started the renovation work on the inside of the house and there is definitely more to come.
We feel so blessed that our dreams are coming true and we want to share this journey with you. So here it is! This is officially the first post of our new adventure, The Barn by Firehouse Antiques. We will be sharing our adventures as we clean up and restore the barn here, on our website, as well as our other social media. Make sure to like us on Facebook at Firehouse Antiques, and Instagram at Firehouse608 for the day-to-day restoration progress. Check out some of the before pictures below and if you have any great ideas for events or restoration, please let us know. We cannot wait to hear from you guys!
